Organic farming and farm-made inputs
Years of erratic rain and continuous cropping have left many soils in our working area tired. SACEP Kenya trains farmers to make their own organic inputs — cheaply, from materials already on the farm — instead of depending only on bought fertiliser.
What we do
- Bokashi composting: fast, fermented compost that returns life to the soil
- Liquid biofertilisers brewed from farm materials
- Biopesticides made from local plants for common pests
- Compost quality, application rates and timing
- Record-keeping so farmers can see what works on their own plots
Farm-made inputs cost a fraction of shop prices and improve soil structure season after season, rather than mining it. Farmers learn to test and adjust recipes in small trials before scaling up.
Always follow product labels and local extension advice for any bought input, and keep records of what you apply and when.
Who we work with
- Smallholder farmers
- Farmer groups running demo plots
- Youth interested in input production as a small business
