About SACEP Kenya
Sustainable Agribusiness and Community Empowerment Partnership (SACEP) Kenya is a local organisation working with farming communities in the drier parts of Tharaka Nithi, Meru and Isiolo counties.
How it began: the power of teamwork
SACEP Kenya was not founded in a boardroom. Community members in Tharaka Nithi came together, sat down, and listened to one another.
They shared what they had — land for demonstrations, time, local knowledge, a nursery bed here, a water tank there. They worked out who was good at what, understood their roles, and decided together what to do first. No one was handed a plan; the plan was built in the open, by the people who would live with it.
That founding habit became our method. Every programme we run starts with the community in the room, contributes local resources alongside outside support, and leaves the community owning the result.
