World Food Day 2026: healthy soils, empowered farmers, locally led solutions
Marking World Food Day with the communities we serve — and the three things we keep coming back to.
On World Food Day, 16 October, SACEP Kenya marked the day with the farming communities we work alongside in Tharaka Nithi and Meru.
Our message this year stays the same because it keeps proving itself: healthy soils, empowered farmers, locally led solutions. A food-secure household is built from the ground up — on living soil, by farmers with the skills and confidence to adapt, through solutions the community owns.
From kitchen gardens that feed families between harvests to organic inputs that rebuild tired soils, the pieces of food security are practical, local and repeatable. That is what we keep teaching, and what these communities keep showing works.
To every farmer, women's group, youth group and school growing food the hard way in a dry county: this day is yours.
