Ahead of the October–December 2026 rainfall season, SACEP Kenya urges farming households in Lower Tharaka Nithi, Meru and neighbouring areas to begin preparation now, not when the first storms land.
Our teams are working with community leaders to activate communication trees, share practical farm-preparation guidance and prioritise households most at risk — those on floodplains, on slopes with bare soil, and storing this season's grain.
We ask county governments, partners and fellow organisations to coordinate messaging so farmers hear one clear, consistent call: prepare early, protect soil and stores, move livestock early, and keep watching official forecasts.
